The inflation rate in Tajikistan over the first 11 months of this year was 3.4%, according to the country’s Statistics Agency, Asiaplus.tj reports.
Specifically, food prices rose by 2.7%, non-food goods by 3.9%, and paid services for the population by 4.7%.
Authorities attribute the low inflation rate to decreases in the prices of fruits (-10.8%), flour (-7.9%), sugar (-6.7%), vegetables (-4%), and several other goods and products (to a lesser extent).
For the third consecutive year, Tajikistan’s statisticians have reported record-low inflation levels. According to the Statistics Agency, prices and tariffs increased by just 4.2% in 2022 and 3.8% in 2023. The lowest inflation level in the years of Tajikistan’s independence was recorded in 2013, at 3.7%.
Meanwhile, consumer prices have risen significantly in Tajikistan's key trading partner countries. Official data shows that inflation in Russia exceeded 9% in the first 11 months of this year, 8.4% in Kazakhstan, and 8.7% in Uzbekistan.
If prices and tariffs continue to rise at similarly low rates through the end of the year, the annual inflation rate is projected to be around 3.7%.
The National Bank of Tajikistan, responsible for maintaining stable domestic prices, has set the target inflation rate at 6.0% (±2 percentage points).
