The Turkmenbashi seaport is planned to be included in the digital registry of transport and logistics centers for the international North-South transport corridor, according to materials from the second meeting of the transport business dialogue of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held at the end of January, the "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age" newspaper reports.
The infrastructure registry will be publicly available on the website of the Coordinating Transport Meeting of the CIS member states, facilitating the more efficient formation of logistics routes and supply chains along the North-South corridor, where Turkmenistan's role is increasing.
Turkmenistan serves as a transit country for two out of the three main routes outlined in the development strategy of the North-South transport corridor: the Trans-Caspian route (via the Caspian Sea) and the eastern route (via Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan).
Representatives of the Russian company "RZD Logistics" and its general director Dmitry Murev visited the Turkmenbashi seaport earlier. He highly praised the port's infrastructure and stated that the company would leverage its capabilities in developing new logistics solutions.
Dmitry Murev believes that the country's transport infrastructure aligns with handling growing cargo flows, and Turkmenistan has the potential to become a crucial transport hub in the future for the East-West and North-South routes.
