The Kazakh national company "KazMunayGas" organized the study of new promising oil and gas areas in the Mangistau, West Kazakhstan and Aktobe regions - Mugodzhary, Berezovsky, Zharkyn, Bolashak and Northern Ozen. Their study in 2023-2024 will be carried out by a subsidiary of KMG Barlau. Each of the sections will require from 2 billion to 11 billion tenge, according to the LC portal.

"The planned volume of 2D seismic survey per area is approximately from 300 to 2.7 thousand linear kilometers. 3D seismic survey will be carried out on 400 sq. km. Predicted (possible) geological resources without taking into account risks are approximately 24 million to 350 million tons oil per site," the portal said in a statement.

The probability of success for all these territories is 4-13%, which is the average indicator for geological exploration of such a regional plan. Based on the results, the resource base will be clarified, and promising areas will be allocated for a more detailed study with the conclusion of contracts for subsoil use.
