In the first half of 2024, the share of SCO countries in Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade significantly increased to 73.6%. This was reported by Kyrgyzstan's Deputy Minister of Economy, Sanzhar Bolotov, at the meeting of ministers responsible for foreign economic and trade activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, which took place on September 12 in Islamabad, according to Economist.kg.
Bolotov highlighted the importance of SCO countries for Kyrgyzstan's foreign economic relations, noting that in 2023, they accounted for 67.9% of total trade, including 49.6% in exports and 72.8% in imports. In the first half of 2024, these figures increased to 73.6%, 52.4%, and 78%, respectively.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized the key importance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project for strengthening regional and international economic cooperation.
During the event, Bolotov also held bilateral meetings with representatives of delegations from China, Iran, and Pakistan, discussing issues of trade and economic cooperation and strengthening partnerships.
