Tajikistan and the IMF reviewed the first assessment of the implementation of the Policy Consultation Instrument (PCI), the press department of the National Bank of Tajikistan announced, Avesta reports.
The parties expressed their readiness for further cooperation. The meeting in Dushanbe was attended by representatives of Tajikistan's economic bloc, led by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Hokim Kholikzoda, and an IMF mission headed by Matthew Gartner.
Kholikzoda expressed gratitude to the IMF for its cooperation in strengthening economic policy and supporting the implementation of the policy coordination instrument program in Tajikistan.
It was noted that despite the high level of political and economic uncertainty in the world, Tajikistan's economic indicators have remained positive throughout 2024, thanks to the consistent implementation of reforms.
Monetary policy has proven effective, keeping inflation below the target level set by the National Bank of Tajikistan, and the budget deficit has remained below the program's target figures.
Tajikistan will take the necessary measures to strengthen the resilience of its economy within the framework of the policy coordination instrument program. In turn, Matthew Gartner, head of the IMF mission, commented on the positive dynamics of Tajikistan's indicators and noted that the IMF mission held meetings with all the ministries and agencies involved in the program. The feedback and comments they provided will be considered in the next round of negotiations.
First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Hokim Kholikzoda emphasized that the Tajik side is ready for constructive dialogue on all issues related to the program's implementation and values the recommendations and opinions of the IMF team’s experts.
"We are confident that the implementation of the program will stimulate additional financing for priority social and infrastructure projects, contributing to stable and inclusive development," Kholikzoda stated.
In conclusion, the parties expressed their commitment and readiness to further develop cooperation.
