Connection of Tajikistan to the Russian "Agroexpress" service, which facilitates accelerated delivery of agricultural products by rail, will undoubtedly contribute to the expansion of shipments, reports Sputnik.
This was stated by the Director of the Institute of Socio-Economic Research at the Financial University under the Government of Russia, Doctor of Economic Sciences Alexey Zubets.
According to him, such a decision will diversify the assortment in stores in Tajikistan.
"Central Asian countries are major producers of agricultural products; they are interested in expanding supplies to the Russian markets, where their goods are in demand," emphasized the expert.
Alexey Zubets also noted that there are quite a few products from Tajikistan on the Russian market, but mostly they are long-lasting options.
"Only those goods that allow for long storage are sold - dried fruits, nuts, while perishable products are not present," the specialist pointed out.
Thus, connecting Tajikistan to Russia's "Agroexpress" service will contribute to the economic development of the country, budget replenishment, increased income for farmers, and overall socio-economic development, believes the Doctor of Economic Sciences.
In addition, such a decision will also contribute to improving the quality of life for the population of Tajikistan.
According to 2022 indicators, the share of Tajikistan’s agriculture in the overall indicator of the country’s economy was more than 25%.
