From January to October 2024, around 17,000 Tajik migrants were deported from Russia, Aslam Shamsiddin, a representative of Tajikistan's Agency for Labor and Employment stated, Sputnik Tajikistan reports.
“This is official data, meaning the actual figures might be higher,” Shamsiddin stated. He explained that the labor inspection monitors the situation closely. Over the first three quarters of the year, more than 2,300 citizens applied for job placement with Tajikistan’s Ministry of Labor and Migration.
The statistics on deportations are based on data from three major airports in Tajikistan - Dushanbe, Khujand, and Bokhtar - which have been the main points of return for deported migrants.
In Moscow, the number of deportations of foreign citizens has seen a significant rise. According to Moscow’s Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP), forced deportations increased by over a third this year. Out of all deported migrants, fewer than 600 (595 individuals) had official employment in Russia.
