Tajikistan will soon become a producer of electric vehicles, reports snob.ru, citing the official website of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.

According to the plan, production will be established as part of a joint venture with Chinese companies. Although the specific names of the partners have not yet been disclosed, it is clear that Tajikistan aims to collaborate with leading global manufacturers in this field.

Tajikistan's Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, emphasized that the country has significant potential for the development of electric transport. Thanks to the production of clean and inexpensive electricity, the use of electric vehicles in the country is not only efficient but also economically advantageous. Additionally, this will reduce Tajikistan's dependence on fuel imports.

To implement the ambitious electric transport development program, almost 229 million somoni or $21.5 million will need to be invested. The majority of the funding will come from the private sector. The comprehensive approach to solving this task includes not only the production of electric vehicles but also the development of battery recycling technologies, as well as the creation of incentives and benefits for electric vehicle owners.

The program is planned for five years and covers the period until 2028.
