A significant discussion took place at the UN headquarters in New York, organized by the Republic of Tajikistan, during which a resolution on artificial intelligence (AI) was presented, Avesta.tj reports.
This initiative received support from several countries, emphasizing its importance for global technological progress. The Tajik delegation, which included the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic, Sherali Kabir, the Director of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of Tajikistan, Khurshed Mirzo, and the country’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Jonibek Hikmat, outlined the key provisions of the resolution's concept.

This center will function as a unified platform for consolidating AI computing capacities, supporting AI startups, and facilitating data-sharing and research and development (R&D) efforts.
Additionally, Tajikistan proposed the concept of horizontal self-regulation of AI in the region, which experts believe will serve as an essential mechanism for fostering the breakthrough growth of AI startups.
During the discussion, representatives from various countries expressed support for Tajikistan’s initiative, highlighting the importance of developing safe and effective AI technologies on a global scale. Tajikistan continues to actively strengthen international cooperation in the field of digital technologies and innovation, aiming to create a secure and sustainable ecosystem for AI development in the region and worldwide.
According to the resolution, AI self-regulation should become a key factor in shaping future international legislation in this field, ensuring a balance between innovation and security. As the initiator of the resolution, Tajikistan emphasizes the need for joint efforts to achieve sustainable technological progress and mitigate potential risks associated with AI development.
