President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon drew the attention of the participants of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai to the minuscule share of Tajikistan in the total volume of greenhouse gas emissions.
In terms of emissions, it ranks 130th in the world. 98% of its electricity is generated from hydroelectric power stations, placing it sixth globally in the percentage of "green energy" produced from renewable sources.
"Thanks to the small amount of these emissions, our country holds leading positions globally. Our country is also one of the leading nations on the planet in terms of the percentage of 'green energy' production," noted the leader of Tajikistan. However, Tajikistan does not intend to stop there.
"In the future, we plan to double the capacity for the production of 'green energy' as the main foundation for promoting the 'green economy,'" stated Rahmon in his speech in Dubai. To achieve this goal, the "Green Economy Development Strategy for 2023-2037" has been adopted and is being implemented.
