Tajiks overtaken Central Asian countries in consumer confidence index

The Consumer Confidence Index in Tajikistan reached 143.2 points in September 2023, making it the highest value among Central Asian countries.

This data was reported by the research conducted by Freedom Finance Global, based on a survey of 1,200 residents of the country. In the past month, this index has increased by 2.4 points, Asiaplustj.info reports.

The Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) is a study that measures how optimistically or pessimistically consumers assess their expected financial situation.

For comparison, in September, the CCI in Kazakhstan was 100 points, in Uzbekistan - 139.1 points, and in Kyrgyzstan - 127.8 points.

The researchers noted that the expectations of the residents of Tajikistan regarding changes in their personal financial situation within a year have significantly improved. In August, 71.2% of those surveyed gave a positive response, while in September, this percentage increased to 75.7%.

In Kazakhstan, the percentage of such individuals was 49.4%, and in Uzbekistan, it was 57.5%. Data for Kyrgyzstan is not provided.

Danar Orazbayev, an analyst at Freedom Finance Global, also pointed out the increased assessments of economic changes in Tajikistan.

He emphasized that this indicator in Tajikistan grew by 2.6 points in September and is at its highest level in the past three months of observation.

"The percentage of those who believe that the economy has improved in some way over the past year increased from 72% in August to 74.8% in September. The youth showed the best result at 81.2%, but the older generation is not far behind, with an average of 74.8% across the country," noted the analyst.
