Tashkent and Astana sign memorandum on strengthening ties in field of strategic reforms

During a recent state visit by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Uzbekistan, a significant memorandum was signed between Uzbekistan’s Agency for Strategic Reforms (ASR) and Kazakhstan’s Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms (ASPR), the press service of the Uzbek president reports.

The document outlines key areas of collaboration, including enhancing strategic planning methods, evaluating reform effectiveness, optimizing public sector operations, and developing innovative approaches to governance.

Roadmap for 2025 and Practical Steps

At the meeting in Tashkent, Bahodir Rakhmatov, director of Uzbekistan’s ASR, emphasized that the two agencies would further their cooperation under a 2025 roadmap aimed at ensuring the practical implementation of the memorandum.

The main focus will be on modernizing public administration, advancing digitalization, promoting sustainable development, and attracting investments. “We are ready to begin active cooperation next year by aligning shared priorities for both countries,” Rakhmatov noted.

Areas of Cooperation: Education, Technology, and Employment

The meeting also prioritized efforts in education, science, technology, and initiatives to enhance employment and support entrepreneurship. Kazakhstan confirmed its commitment to working closely with Uzbekistan, stressing the importance of collaboration for stability and economic growth in Central Asia.

Both countries expressed a shared commitment to sustainable economic growth and improving citizens' welfare, reaffirming their readiness to implement reforms for the benefit of the region.
