Terrorists may move to the countries of Central Asia along with Afghan refugees, said Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.
He announced this risk when speaking at a meeting with colleagues from the CIS countries, Sputnik reports.
He warned that the difficult situation in Afghanistan could lead to refugees moving into Central Asia.
"There is a risk that refugees will move not only towards Iran and Pakistan, which now receive more than 80% of migrants, but also to the Central Asian states," Patrushev specified.
In his opinion, among other things, this may lead to the infiltration of members of international terrorist organizations into the Commonwealth countries.
The Secretary of the Security Council drew attention to the fact that against the backdrop of the economic crisis in Afghanistan, there are risks of a serious deterioration in the migration situation.
Patrushev pointed out that the difficult socio-economic situation, including against the background of the US blocking Afghan funds, creates conditions for building up the potential of terrorist organizations. This is fraught with increased instability in the CIS space.
At the same time, according to him, the United States itself is fighting terrorism only in words, and many terrorist organizations were created by the Americans to achieve their geopolitical goals.
