In 2024, Kyrgyzstan continued to strengthen its trade ties with Europe, with key exports including precious metals, transport-related goods, and more. The total volume of exports to Europe exceeded $2.2 billion, accounting for 13.8% of the country's total foreign trade turnover, Akchaber.kg reports.
Although overall trade turnover with Europe slightly declined (by 1.8%), this was due to a 23.6% reduction in imports from European countries to $851.2 million, while Kyrgyzstan's exports grew by 18.6% to $1.4 billion.
The United Kingdom remained Kyrgyzstan’s main trading partner in Europe, with exports to the UK reaching $1.3 billion—13.8 times higher than in 2023. The primary export was gold, valued at $1.2 billion. Switzerland ranked second in export volume, receiving approximately $66.1 million worth of goods. Kyrgyz gold also made its way to the Swiss market, though overall trade turnover with Switzerland saw a 13.5-fold decline. In total, Kyrgyzstan exported $63.5 million worth of gold to Switzerland.
Belgium and France also remain important partners.
