The international openness of Kazakhstan has a positive impact on the growth of foreign tourists, stated the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Yermek Marzhikpayev, during an extended meeting of the department's board, the agency Kazinform reports.

"The international openness of the country has a positive impact on the growth of foreign tourists. A visa-free regime is in effect with 82 countries, including major tourism markets such as China and India. We see a significant increase in visitors from these countries," said Yermek Marzhikpayev.

The minister added that, thanks to the introduction of a 14-day visa-free regime for Chinese citizens in July 2022 and reciprocal visa-free regime from November 2023, the number of visitors from China increased twelvefold, from 18,000 to 217,000. After the introduction of the 14-day visa-free regime, there has been a threefold increase in visitors from India, from 28,000 in 2022 to 78,000 in 2023.
