Back in 2022, Turkmenistan, which was at the origin of the program, expressed its intention to join the Basic Multilateral Agreement on the Development of the TRACECA International Transport Corridor, Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission Asset Asavbayev said in Ashgabat at the International Conference "International transport and transit corridors: interconnection and development" , according to Turkmenportal.tm.
“Today, all TRACECA countries have supported this initiative, and I hope that Turkmenistan will join the ranks of the TRACECA countries in the near future,” Asavbaev emphasized.
The Permanent Secretariat of TRACECA is ready to provide the necessary support to ensure the harmonization and interoperability of various modes of transport in the region, paying special attention to multimodal transportation, taking into account maritime transport through the port of Turkmenbashi, said the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission.
The program of international cooperation between the European Union and partner countries on the organization of the transport corridor "Europe - Caucasus - Asia" TRACECA was established in 1993 on the basis of the Brussels Declaration with the participation of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
