Trade turnover between Tajikistan and Russia in 2023 exceeded $1 bln

The trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan from January to August 2023 amounted to more than $1.1 billion, which is a 3.1% increase compared to the same period in 2022. These figures are based on data from the statistics agency under the President of Tajikistan, TASS reports.

Tajikistan's exports to Russia during this period amounted to $95.7 million, while imports from Russia to Tajikistan were approximately $1 billion. The growth rate has slowed down, as trade turnover from January to July 2023 reached $997.4 million, marking a 9.8% increase compared to the same period in 2022.

In January to August 2023, Russia once again became Tajikistan's largest trading partner. Among the CIS countries, Kazakhstan took second place in terms of trade turnover, with a trade volume of approximately $747.6 million, which is 18.1% less than during the same period in 2022. Trade turnover with Belarus also increased significantly by 39.3%, reaching $67.7 million.

Among non-CIS countries, Tajikistan had the highest trade turnover with China over the eight months, totaling $947.5 million, an 8.7% increase compared to the same period in 2022. During this period, trade turnover with Germany grew significantly to $127.7 million, doubling that of the first eight months of 2022, as well as with the USA, reaching $162.9 million, marking a 1.8-fold increase compared to January to August of the previous year.
