The situation on the Tajik-Afghan border remains tense but under control, stated the Chairman of the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops of the CIS, Colonel-General Alexander Manilov.

"The situation is difficult, tense, but under control," he stressed.

The colonel-general recalled that on a regular meeting of the CIS SKPV was held in Dushanbe.

The participants of the meeting discussed the situation on the external borders of the CIS, including the Afghan direction.

Particular attention was paid to the concentration of militants in the border regions of Tajikistan.

"Some of them came from war zones, and this is of particular concern, because these are not just people who are on the other side, but trained, knowing how to use weapons, carry out sabotage, terrorist attacks," Manilov said. RIA Novosti reports.

Early Tajik President Emomali Rahmon announced the deterioration of the situation on the Tajik-Afghan border and the accumulation of militants on the Russia-Central Asia summit,

According to the head of state, Dushanbe is strengthening the border with the neighboring country and creating the necessary border infrastructure.

Thus, in 2.5 years, Tajikistan has built more than 175 objects of border outposts and detachments in the Afghan direction. However, this is not enough, says Rahmon.
