Turkiye intends to host a gas summit with the participation of representatives of countries exporting "blue" fuel from Central Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean Sea. The Summit is expected to be attended by gas consumers from among European countries.
Over the past 20 years, Turkiye has made the necessary investments to enable it to become a hub for the natural gas trade. An agreement was signed between Turkiye and Bulgaria for the supply of almost 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas annually until 2035, which is about 30% of Bulgaria's annual consumption. Similar negotiations are underway with North Macedonia, Romania and Moldova. It is also planned to sign an agreement with Oman on the annual import of 1.4 billion cubic meters of gas for at least 10 years.
On February 6, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in the central and southern part of Turkiye on the border with Syria. According to data by the evening of February 6, more than 1000 people died in Turkiye.
