Prospects for cooperation on modernizing the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port—a key link in the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor—were discussed during a meeting between representatives of Turkmenistan's Agency for Maritime and River Transport and Narine Saakyan, Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan, Turkmenportal.com reports.

In particular, the parties addressed collaboration on simplifying trade operations and implementing modern digital systems. According to the Concept Note presented by UNDP, special attention was given to improving the existing Terminal Operating System (TOS) and introducing a Maritime Single Window (MSW) system, as noted on tmrl.gov.tm.

The significance of the port's existing ISO 14001 and "EcoPort" certifications was also highlighted, alongside new proposals for further advancing international environmental standards.

Representatives of the Agency stated that these initiatives and projects will be submitted for consideration by the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
