At the Turkmenistan Economy Days Forum in Germany, Deputy Chairman of the State Concern Turkmengaz, Berdimyrat Amanov, presented the country’s vast energy potential and invited German companies to expand cooperation in the oil and gas sector, Orient.tm reports.

According to Amanov, Turkmenistan’s hydrocarbon reserves are estimated at 71.2 billion tons of oil equivalent, including the giant Galkynysh gas field with confirmed reserves of 27.4 trillion cubic meters of natural gas. Negotiations are underway with leading international companies on the development of the second and third stages of the project.

Amanov emphasized that Turkmenistan offers strong legal guarantees and flexible partnership mechanisms for foreign investors — including production sharing agreements, concessions, and risk-based service contracts. Priority areas for cooperation include the construction of compressor stations, underground gas storage facilities, and the introduction of digital management systems.

He also highlighted successful partnerships with German companies. A cooperation memorandum with Siemens Energy on compressor station modernization is already being implemented, and a $108 million contract is being prepared. Meanwhile, BASF SE is considering long-term supplies of chemical reagents.

Turkmengaz reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Germany in equipment, materials, and technology supplies, underscoring Turkmenistan’s reputation as a reliable partner in investment projects.
