Turkmenistan and Cambodia Held Their First Political Consultations

The first political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Cambodia took place in Phnom Penh. The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov, and the Cambodian delegation was led by Foreign Ministry State Secretary Ung Rachana, Orient.tm reports.

The parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, including political dialogue, interparliamentary contacts, and the expansion of the legal framework.

Particular attention was paid to interaction within the UN and cooperation with ASEAN. Cambodia supported Turkmenistan's initiative to create a "Central Asia + ASEAN" format.

The parties also discussed prospects for trade and economic cooperation, including in the textile industry, agriculture, transport, and logistics. The organization of business forums and direct contacts between entrepreneurs from the two countries was discussed.

In the humanitarian sphere, proposals were made to hold Culture Days and develop cooperation in tourism and education.

The Turkmen Foreign Ministry noted that the consultations were an important step in strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
