Turkmenistan and Iran agree on gas and electricity exchange

Iran and Turkmenistan have agreed to exchange gas, electricity, and technical services, Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzana Sadigh told local media, Minval.az reports.

According to her, as part of this cooperation, discussions were held in Turkmenistan on the construction of the Atrak-Gumdag highway, resulting in a corresponding decision.

Sadigh noted that, according to the agreements reached, the construction of this highway has been assigned to an Iranian contracting company, and work will begin soon.

Earlier, Farzana Sadigh visited Turkmenistan on March 28–29 this year. In the short term, Iran and Turkmenistan plan to increase railway transit and cargo transportation volumes to 10 million tons by the end of 2027.
