Ashgabat and Tehran are actively deepening the trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. This, in turn, necessitates the improvement of road logistics.
The response to this need from the Iranian side may be realized through the opening of new roads.
Deputy Coordinator for Economic Affairs of the Governor of Golestan Province in Iran, Seyed Mohammad Dehnavi, stated that in the next two months of 2024, the Iranian side will begin the construction of a highway from the city of Incheborun to the Balkan region of Turkmenistan, Orient reports.
"One of the main reasons for implementing this plan is the growing increase in exports from Iran to Turkmenistan and then to other Asian countries," noted the official, citing figures illustrating the growth in trade turnover between the two countries.
For instance, the volume of products from Golestan Province sold in external markets reached $265 million, with the import of products into Golestan, including from Turkmenistan, growing by 187%.
