On the occasion of Diplomats' Day, the Government of Turkmenistan and UNICEF reaffirmed their strong partnership by signing ten working plans with eleven state organizations, the Salamnews portal reports.

These collaboration agreements signify a significant step towards implementing the UNICEF Country Program for Turkmenistan for 2021-2025. The signed working plans entail the continuation of ongoing activities and the initiation of new strategies for realizing children's rights in Turkmenistan.

Through these working plans, UNICEF and the Government of Turkmenistan will continue to fulfill their commitments to respect, protect, and implement children's rights, as stipulated in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and further affirmed in the second National Action Plan for the Implementation of Children's Rights for 2023-2028.

In 2024, UNICEF will continue to pay special attention to ensuring that every child and young person in Turkmenistan has the opportunity to fully realize their potential and justly enjoy their rights.

A noteworthy aspect of these work plans is the inclusion of cross-sectoral themes, demonstrating the country's commitment to the principles of inclusivity and sustainability. These themes encompass the commitment to collect data on children and families to reach the most vulnerable and leave no one behind. Additionally, the plans aim to promote the participation of children and youth, gender equality, and environmental protection.

UNICEF has signed working plans with the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ombudsman's Office, the State Committee on Statistics, the Institute of State, Law, and Democracy, the State Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting, and Cinematography, as well as the Women's Union.

"UNICEF takes pride in its longstanding partnership with the Government of Turkmenistan. Through these working plans, we seek to achieve a tangible and long-term impact on the lives of children and families throughout Turkmenistan, paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future for all," said Mohammad Faiyaz, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan.
