Turkmenistan is actively developing transportation infrastructure to integrate its economy into the global market and increase mutually beneficial contacts with countries worldwide.
One of the most significant projects is the construction of the "Ashgabat-Turkmenabat" highway, which will span 600 kilometers. The highway will serve as a modern counterpart to one of the segments of the historic Silk Road. It will connect the eastern region of the country with its center and provide a direct route for cargo flows to the international seaport of Turkmenbashi, Turkmenportal reports.
This development aims to position Turkmenistan as a more attractive transit hub for Central Asian and European countries. Redzhep Eeberdyev, the head of the construction project's Mary section for the third phase of the superhighway, shared this information.
Currently, more than ten thousand people and one and a half thousand pieces of construction equipment are involved in the highway's construction. Along the route, dozens of large and small bridges are being constructed, as well as underground passages, auto-service areas, and payment terminals.
Construction of the Bridge Over the Karakum River
On the Mary-Turkmenabat section, a 241-meter bridge is being built at the 322nd kilometer, and at the 442nd kilometer, a 291-meter bridge across the Karakum River, which will be the country's longest bridge.
The construction of the "Ashgabat-Turkmenabat" highway represents a crucial step in Turkmenistan's transportation infrastructure development and strengthening its economic ties with the rest of the world.
