Turkmenistan held meeting of Interdepartmental Commission on Caspian Sea

Upcoming session of Turkmenistan's Interdepartmental Commission on Caspian Sea Affairs was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, Orient.tm reports.

The meeting was also attended by other members of the government and representatives from various ministries and agencies connected to the Caspian Sea.

The main topic of the session was the Commission's Work Plan for 2023, which encompasses a series of activities aimed at strengthening cooperation with Caspian littoral states across various sectors. Participants in the meeting exchanged opinions on the key events planned for the near future.

Turkmenistan places significant importance on the development of good neighborly relations and partnerships with Caspian littoral states, based on principles of equality, respect, and mutual benefit. Turkmenistan is also actively engaged in the implementation of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, signed by the leaders of the five Caspian littoral countries in Aktau (Kazakhstan) in 2018. This document outlines the rules for using the Caspian Sea and its resources, as well as regulates cooperation in areas such as environmental protection, navigation, fishing, and other domains.
