In the first three months of 2024, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover with Turkmenistan amounted to $20 million. This is 36% higher compared to the same period last year, demonstrating significant growth in trade relations between the two countries, as reported by Orient.tm.
Kyrgyzstan's exports to Turkmenistan totaled $1 million, which is 5.2% higher than in January-March 2023.
On the other hand, imports from Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan reached $19.1 million, increasing by 38.1% compared to the previous year.
These figures reflect strengthened economic ties and growing mutual interest in trade between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
According to Uzbekistan's statistical agency, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $455.5 million, which is 23% higher compared to $368.4 million for the same period in 2023.
From this total, Turkmenistan's exports to Uzbekistan reached $407.5 million, surpassing last year's figure of $299.1 million by 36%.
However, Turkmenistan's imports from Uzbekistan decreased by 30%, falling to $48 million from $69.2 million in January-May 2023.
In 2023, the overall trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $1.09 billion, which is 17.8% higher than $928.6 million in 2022.
Thus, in the period from January to May 2024, Turkmenistan ranked seventh among Uzbekistan's trading partners.
The reason for Turkmenistan's higher exports to both neighboring countries is the expansion of gas and electricity supplies to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, which they need at the current stage.
