Turkmenistan Strengthens Cooperation with UN in Sustainable Urban Development

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova held negotiations with a UN-Habitat delegation led by Katja Schäfer, during which they discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of sustainable development of settlements, reports Turkmenportal.tm, citing the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the 11th UN Sustainable Development Goal, aimed at ensuring openness, safety, and environmental sustainability of cities. The Turkmen side emphasized the importance of national programs aligned with the country’s international commitments under the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

As a result of the talks, the parties expressed readiness to further strengthen their partnership and enrich it with new content. The UN-Habitat program is a key partner of Turkmenistan in sustainable urban development.
