Ashgabat hosted a meeting between Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and UNICEF Representative Jalpa Ratna, who is also currently serving as the Acting UN Resident Coordinator in the country, Orient.tm reports.

The discussion focused on Turkmenistan’s collaboration with the United Nations and its agencies, with particular emphasis on humanitarian efforts in response to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, according to a press release from the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

Both sides highlighted Turkmenistan’s practical commitment to humanitarian values and solidarity, particularly its active support during emergency situations. The talks also emphasized Turkmenistan’s cooperation with international organizations, including the UN, in facilitating the evacuation of foreign nationals currently in Iran.

The meeting reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s dedication to the principles of humanity, international cooperation, and good neighborliness on the global stage.

Following the outbreak of conflict between Iran and Israel on June 13, Turkmenistan swiftly announced the opening of a humanitarian corridor to assist foreign nationals leaving Iran.
