To familiarize themselves with the practical implementation of large-scale energy, transport, and infrastructure international projects involving Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, a Turkmen delegation led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov made a working visit to Afghanistan. The delegation was accompanied by representatives from Afghanistan, headed by Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, Turkmenistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service reports.
During the visit, the Turkmen delegation reviewed the progress of construction on the Serhetabat–Herat section in Afghanistan, a key phase in the implementation of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project.
The delegation also observed the pace of work on the construction of the "Arkadagyň ak ýoly" fiber-optic communication line, the warehouse complex at the dry port of the Turghundi railway station, and the Turghundi–Sanabar section of the first phase of the Turghundi–Herat railway.
The official launch of these projects on Afghan territory took place on September 11 of this year, with the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
