Kyrgyzstan, within the framework of the five-year program of the World Food Program (WFP) of the UN, will receive support in the amount of $90 million and $15 million for projects to overcome poverty, Kyrgyz Labor Minister Kudaibergen Bazarbayev said at the second session of the WFP, Economist.kg reports.

Over the nine months of this year, over 131,000 poor Kyrgyzstanis (30,500 low-income families) were able to take part in various projects of the Ministry of Labor, Bazarbayev said.

“Considering that 105.5 thousand families receive low-income benefits, we can say that we were able to cover almost every third needy family with measures to overcome poverty. Over 108,000 Kyrgyzstanis took part in projects to improve local infrastructure, for which they received flour and vegetable oil,” the minister said.

He also noted that 20.5 thousand people participated in projects under the "cash for work (training)" scheme. And about 3,000 people have opened their own business, concluding a social contract with the state and receiving free funds from the budget.
