Minister of Digital Development of Uzbekistan Shavkat Shermatov and Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development Isabelle Coleman signed a memorandum in Washington, the USAID press service reports.
Under the agreement, the U.S. agency will provide support for the implementation of the "Digital Uzbekistan-2030" strategy, reports says.
USAID will assist in the development of the information technology and communication sectors in Uzbekistan by engaging young people and women in IT, uniting technical educational institutions, supporting private sector growth, and participating in other IT-related initiatives.
During the negotiations, Shermatov and Coleman discussed cooperation between Uzbekistan and the U.S., support for the IT sector, promotion of the digital economy, as well as strengthening the private sector.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan and the U.S. aim to strengthen their strategic partnership. A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the Deputy Prime Minister, held several business meetings in Washington.
