“I see our partnership and cooperation with Kazakhstan as much broader than issues of strengthening security,” the high ranked American diplomat said.
"Kazakhstan has been our partner for quite a long time in matters of disarmament, non-proliferation of weapons, peacekeeping, as well as the repatriation of Kazakhstanis from Syria - that is, we have been cooperating on a number of issues for a long time and we see our cooperation much wider than just the issues of our military cooperation. This is diplomatic, economic and political cooperation,” said Derek Cholle, adviser to the US State Department, about the prospects for Kazakh-American relations, the KazTAG agency reports.
Cholle stressed that the United States is interested in strengthening economic, political and military cooperation with the countries of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, and therefore, according to him, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu is visiting Kazakhstan now.
The Department of State adviser stressed that his country would expand partnership with Kazakhstan.
“We really appreciate cooperation with Kazakhstan and Central Asia in economic, military and political terms, we have worked hard on this for the past 30 years and we will build up and strengthen the C + 1 (Central Asia + USA) program,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
At the same time, cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States will not be limited to just one area.
“For our part, we see our cooperation with Kazakhstan as multilateral, that is, in a number of areas, not only military, not only in this aspect, for us this is a complex issue, military, economic and political cooperation. On the part of the US State Department, we will build up friendly ties, we will work to strengthen diplomatic ties and stability in the region,” the expert noted.
