The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has resigned in accordance with the newly elected parliament. A resolution on the resignation was signed on November 19 by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, according to the press secretary of the Uzbek government, Bekzod Khidoyatov.

According to a decree by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the current composition of the Cabinet will continue to perform its duties until a new government is formed to ensure continuity and uninterrupted operation, reports Gazeta.uz.

The resignation of the government before the newly elected Oliy Majlis aligns with Article 116 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan and Article 7 of the law on the Cabinet of Ministers. This procedure is conducted to reset the executive branch following parliamentary renewal.

Within a month of the new Oliy Majlis being formed, the President of Uzbekistan will hold consultations with political party factions and submit a candidate for the position of Prime Minister to the Legislative Chamber. The nominee will present a program of action for the Cabinet for the near and long-term future. Approval of the candidate will require a majority vote from deputies in the lower house of parliament.

Following the confirmation of the Prime Minister, the formation of the new government will begin. Deputy Prime Ministers and ministers are appointed by the President of Uzbekistan after receiving approval from the Legislative Chamber, which also requires a majority vote from the deputies.
