President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), led by its newly appointed President, Zou Jiayi. The meeting signaled a new phase in the strengthening of relations between the Republic and this influential international financial institution.
Uzbekistan’s partnership with the AIIB has demonstrated record growth rates in recent years:
- Total Project Portfolio: Now exceeds $7 billion.
- 2025 Financing Volume: More than $1 billion was allocated in the past year alone.
The parties agreed to expand collaboration across several socio-economic sectors:
- Energy and Resources: Advancing alternative energy, increasing energy efficiency, and improving water supply systems.
- Social Sphere: Implementing poverty reduction programs and supporting entrepreneurship among women and youth.
- Economic Mechanisms: Promoting Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects and bolstering the private sector.
Special emphasis was placed on the AIIB’s active participation in large-scale infrastructure projects of regional significance, designed to enhance transport and energy connectivity across Central Asia.
AIIB President Zou Jiayi praised the scale of the country's ongoing transformations and reaffirmed the Bank's readiness to provide full support for the reform program in "New Uzbekistan."
