Uzbek Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjaev met with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov in Baku to implement the August agreements between the two leaders, UzDaily.uz reported.
Following the talks, the parties signed a Roadmap for Expanding Cooperation in the Energy Sector for 2026–2028.
The document covers a wide range of areas: from joint geological exploration, production, and supply of oil to the development of oil refining and deepening SOCAR's presence in the Uzbek market. Particular emphasis is placed on the implementation of the Central Asia–Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor project, which will unite the countries' efforts in the electric power and renewable energy sectors.
The signing of the Roadmap transforms the traditional partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan into a full-fledged strategic alliance. The Green Energy Corridor project transforms Baku into a key bridge for Uzbek clean energy exports to Europe, responding to the global trend toward decarbonization and strengthening the energy independence of both nations.
Deepening cooperation in the traditional sector—in particular, SOCAR's expanded presence in Uzbekistan and joint geological exploration—creates synergies between Azerbaijani technological expertise and Uzbek raw materials. This will optimize petroleum product supply chains and increase refining depth.
Overall, the three-year cooperation plan elevates the energy dialogue between Baku and Tashkent to the institutional level, creating a new architecture for energy security in Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
