Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to implement a pilot project called “Seamless Transit” by the end of 2026, Sputnik Uzbekistan reports.
The decision was made during a meeting of the working group, according to Kazakhstan’s State Revenue Committee under the Ministry of Finance.
The initiative aims to simplify trade operations between the two countries and reduce customs clearance times. As part of the project, both sides plan to introduce electronic document exchange and integrate their customs information systems.
Officials note that “Seamless Transit” could become a key step toward creating a unified transport and logistics space in Central Asia. Successful implementation of the pilot project is expected to open new opportunities for boosting bilateral trade.
This development builds on years of cooperation between the two countries in trade and logistics. In 2018, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan signed an agreement to establish an International Center for Border Cooperation, and in 2022 they launched a joint IT project to digitalize customs processes.
