Uzbekistan and Türkiye offer assistance to Kazakhstan in extinguishing fire

Uzbekistan and Turkiye expressed their readiness to help Kazakhstan with extinguishing a large forest fire in the Abai region. This was announced at a briefing by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Aibek Smadiyarov, Zakon.kz reports.

He noted that no assistance was officially offered, but the heads of Turkiye and Uzbekistan expressed their willingness to help by telephone.

"The president, our minister spoke on the phone with colleagues from Turkiye and Uzbekistan. If the disaster is big, if the state is not able to eliminate its consequences, then he will have to ask for help from another country. So far we are not asking for such help," Smadiyarov said.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar admitted that in the situation with the fire in the Abai region, they missed the moment when it was possible to localize it.

As a result of untimely measures taken in the Abai region, 14 employees of the Novoshulbinsk branch of the Semey Ormany reserve were killed. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the death of people.

June 12 in Kazakhstan was declared a day of mourning for those who died as a result of the natural disaster.
