President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved a trilateral agreement between the republic, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan on the construction of a deep-sea cable for the export of environmentally friendly energy, the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan reported.
Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev said that the resolution envisages infrastructure for the supply of environmentally friendly electricity to Europe.
“As part of the technical specifications, a proposed business model will be developed for the development of international transmission corridors (financing, revenue flow and ownership) and for the sale of green energy to the countries of the European Union,” Satkaliyev said.
The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and other government agencies will be responsible for laying the cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, building a power transmission line through Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as laying a cable along the bottom of the Black Sea to Romania.
The energy ministries of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have also worked out a draft memorandum of cooperation on the unification of energy systems. The governments of the three countries will also create a joint venture for construction, the office of which will be located in Baku.
