The official authorities in Tashkent and Moscow are cooperating to counter the spread of terrorists in the Central Asian region, Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Oleg Malginov said at a round table in Tashkent, IA REGNUM reports.

“We, together with our Uzbek partners, assess the security situation in Central Asia from similar positions. One of the key threats in this regard is the danger of a flow of terrorists from Syria, Afghanistan and other hot spots to the region,” Malginov said.

He added that the problems arise because of the drug dealers, who approach from the south. The ambassador compared drugs with chemical weapons of mass destruction.

Malginov also drew attention to the fact that militants of the Islamic State terrorist group and other terrorist communities continue to operate in Afghanistan.
