Uzbekistan has joined the initiative to create a simplified customs corridor between countries that are members of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the corresponding decree on June 19, Podrobno.uz reports.

The Decree of the President of Uzbekistan approves an international agreement between the governments of the OTS member countries on the creation of a simplified customs corridor. It was signed on November 11, 2022 in Samarkand by the governments of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.

The agreement provides that governments will create a simplified customs corridor - an electronic system open for use aimed at the advance exchange of information on goods transported between states. After the agreement is ratified by all parties, a pilot project will be implemented within six months to work out all the nuances of the system's functioning.

The introduction of the new system will improve efficiency and reduce the time for customs control, as well as simplify customs control procedures and create more favorable conditions for participants in foreign economic activity.
