The Chairman of the Korean Online Export-Import Association (KOEIA), Cho Dong-hwe, has praised Uzbekistan for its significant achievements in implementing economic and political reforms, Dunyo News Agency reports.

He emphasized that the country’s strategy of openness and pragmatic cooperation, initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is delivering tangible results.

"Uzbekistan has emerged as a growing economic and geopolitical player in Central Asia," Cho Dong-hwe stated.

The Korean expert highlighted the development of major transport corridors - particularly the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project - and the attraction of large-scale foreign investment in renewable energy. He noted that Uzbekistan aims to generate 25% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030.

He also underscored the active involvement of international organizations in supporting Uzbekistan’s reform agenda, as well as the expansion of academic ties through branches of leading global universities. According to Cho, the country’s multi-vector foreign policy effectively balances the strengthening of regional cooperation with the deepening of partnerships with global powers.

Since 2016, Uzbekistan has implemented a wide-ranging reform program, moving up 12 positions in the World Bank’s Doing Business ranking. Over $30 billion in foreign investment has been attracted during this period. In 2024, the country entered an active phase of negotiations on accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), further reinforcing its role as a key regional hub.
