Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia are concerned about the volatility of the energy markets and "forbidden tricks" of Western competitors, said Alexander Sternik, director of the Third Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, RIA Novomti reports.
"We are in dialogue with partners. Everyone is concerned about the volatility of energy markets, the "forbidden tricks" used by our competitors, as well as anomalous temperature fluctuations in the region," he said in an interview with the agency.
“The necessary measures are being discussed on all these topical issues affecting the “well-being” of economies and the well-being of the population. Road maps have been signed. The parties intend to strengthen their energy security on a mutually beneficial basis, coordinate positions in foreign markets, including supplies to each other and third countries," Sternick said.
At a meeting in the Kremlin at the end of November 2022, Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin discussed the creation of a "triple gas union" with the participation of Uzbekistan to coordinate actions in the transportation of Russian gas through the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The idea of a "tripartite alliance" at the first stage provides for the possibility of creating a coordination mechanism, possibly with some kind of legal entity, but such issues still need to be discussed, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president, explained to journalists.
