President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced the launch of a national artificial intelligence (AI) model designed to reflect the country’s cultural values and unique identity, Daryo.uz reports.

This new initiative aims to integrate Uzbekistan’s rich historical heritage with modern digital innovations. According to Mirziyoyev, the project is intended to inspire the country’s youth to generate creative ideas and take an active role in advancing technological development.

To support this goal, Uzbekistan is partnering with the United Arab Emirates to implement the educational program "One Million AI Leaders." This year alone, at least 100,000 young people in Uzbekistan are expected to undergo training in AI technologies via the AI Study platform.

A strong focus is also being placed on building a skilled workforce. Currently, more than 19,500 computer science teachers work in Uzbek schools. The Ministry of Preschool and School Education will revise the national curriculum, taking inspiration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) AI program. Under this plan, 100 teachers from each region will receive advanced training at the New Uzbekistan University. These teachers will serve as mentors, transferring their knowledge to colleagues through a cascading model over a two-year period.

As a result, within the next five years, all high school graduates in Uzbekistan are expected to gain fundamental knowledge in artificial intelligence.
