The Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan has repaired the MI-8MTV helicopter of the Kyrgyzstan Air Force and handed it back, the press service of the Uzbek defense agency announced, Gazeta.uz reports.
Experts from both countries conducted test flights of the helicopter. The press service stated, "It is fully ready for operation."
The repair was carried out by the Chirchik Aircraft Repair Plant in the Tashkent region.
President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov also commented on this event on his Facebook page.
According to him, in accordance with an agreement reached by the presidents of the two countries, in 2021, Uzbekistan provided Kyrgyzstan with a military MI-8MTV helicopter as gratuitous humanitarian assistance.
Subsequently, one of the similar helicopters in the fleet of Kyrgyzstan's military aircraft was handed over to the Chirchik Aircraft Repair Plant in Uzbekistan for a major overhaul.
"The Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan fully undertook the repair work," noted Japarov.
Specialists from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Defense received the helicopter and transported it from Chirchik through Osh to Bishkek.
"All of this was made possible, of course, with the support and oversight of the President of Uzbekistan, Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In this regard, I express deep gratitude to Shavkat Miromonovich," emphasized Sadyr Japarov.
