From July 30 to August 18, 2025, Uzbekistan repatriated 621 of its citizens who found themselves in difficult circumstances abroad under the large-scale humanitarian program "Return Home," the country’s Migration Agency has reported.

All transportation costs were covered by the special Migration Fund, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable nationals overseas. The initiative targets citizens unable to return home due to financial hardship, deportation, or other emergencies.

The majority of those repatriated — 460 individuals — were brought back from Russia. Additional returnees included 71 from Turkey, 56 from the United States, 17 from Kazakhstan, 4 from South Korea, 3 each from India, Japan, and Poland, 2 from Egypt, and one each from Kyrgyzstan and Saudi Arabia.

Among the returnees were 326 women, 295 men, and 189 minors, highlighting the program’s strong social and humanitarian focus.

According to the Migration Agency, more than 2,045 citizens submitted requests for assistance during the program’s operation. Over 1,400 received legal consultations, and repatriation was approved in 639 cases.

Priority was given to women and children held in detention or deportation centers in Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, the United States, and South Korea. Consular offices and migration representatives verified their situations and coordinated urgent evacuations.

Beyond transportation, returnees are receiving legal, socio-psychological, and medical support. Uzbekistan is actively cooperating with foreign government bodies and international humanitarian organizations to ensure safe and dignified repatriation.

The "Return Home" initiative is part of a broader national strategy to protect citizens abroad and regulate labor migration, aiming to reduce social risks associated with overseas employment.
