Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the company responsible for Afghanistan's power supply, and Uzbekistan's National Electric Networks have signed an agreement for electricity supplies in 2025. The Afghan company emphasized that this agreement is an important step toward strengthening energy cooperation between the two countries, reports Daryo.uz.
This agreement reaffirms a long-term energy partnership. Previously, according to the Statistics Agency under the President of Uzbekistan, the country's electricity exports have shown significant growth. From January to October 2024, electricity export revenues reached $81.7 million, marking a 62.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
In early May of this year, it was reported that Afghanistan had already paid Uzbekistan $86.9 million for electricity supplies. This confirms the stable demand for Uzbek electricity and its crucial role in Afghanistan’s energy security.
