Uzbekistan to help Kazakhstan to revive textile industry

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have updated the roadmap for the implementation of investment agreements and trade contracts, signed during the visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Uzbekistan in December 2022, the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reports.

At a joint meeting held in Shymkent, Deputy Prime Ministers of the two countries Serik Zhumangarin and Jamshid Khodjaev agreed on an updated document.

The roadmap now includes:

1.cluster for deep processing of Kazakh grain up to 1 million tons;

2.Project for the refining of vegetable oil on the territory of the newly created ICPC "Central Asia";

3. launch of idle textile factories in Shymkent with a capacity of 18 thousand tons of cotton fiber per year;

4. textile complex with a capacity of 5500 tons of cotton fiber per year;

5. joint venture for the organization of a textile cluster in the Turkestan region with a phased launch until 2026.

The parties also agreed to open branches of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers on the basis of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University and South Kazakhstan University. M. Auezov - in the city of Chirchik in Uzbekistan.

On March 3, an informal meeting between the President of Kazakhstan Tokayev and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took place in Shymkent. The leaders of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, in the spirit of mutual trust, friendship and good neighborliness, discussed in detail the current state and prospects for strengthening allied relations between the two countries, writes Akorda.

The presidents paid special attention to issues of trade and economic cooperation: increasing mutual trade, attracting investments, developing cooperation in the industrial, energy, agricultural, transport and logistics sectors.
