For the first time in history, a Central Asian country will host the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly. The 150th anniversary Assembly will be held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, Kun.uz reports.

The jubilee session of the IPU Assembly is scheduled for April 5–9, 2025, at the Tashkent City Congress Hall. The event is expected to bring together around 2,000 delegates from 180 countries, 15 observer states, and over 25 international and inter-parliamentary organizations.

The main theme of the upcoming Assembly will be "The Parliamentary Movement for Social Development and Justice." Discussions will focus on poverty reduction, creating decent working conditions, promoting social inclusion, and increasing the participation of vulnerable groups in decision-making processes.

At the conclusion of the Assembly, the IPU resolutions and the Tashkent Declaration will be adopted.
